Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe was arrested at Tuesday night’s Huntington Beach City Council meeting after he protested a proposed MAGA acrostic plaque outside of the Central Library for the library’s 50th anniversary. Kluwe compared Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement to the Nazi movement in Germany.
The proposed plaque will have the words “Magical,” “Alluring,” “Galvanizing” and “Adventurous” next to each other in a MAGA acrostic. It will also read, “Through hope and change our nation has built back better to the golden era of Making America Great Again!”
During the meeting, Chris Kluwe blasted Donald Trump and criticized several Make America Great Again policies, calling it “explicitly a Nazi movement.”
“I want our elected democratic officials to start engaging in civil disobedience,” Kluwe said during his protest according to The Daily Pilot. “People need to be aware that what’s going on with this administration is leading us down a really dark path. Right now, no one is willing to step up and do that. So, if I want to ask them to do it, then I have to be willing to do it too.”
During an interview with The Daily Pilot, Kluwe said that protesting is “the American thing to do” and that his and everyone else’s voice “should be heard.”
“American citizen most definitely have a right to protest against wrongs being done in America, but there’s a big difference in using your voice, and inciting a riot.” said Thomas Robb, the National Director of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, centrally located in Harrison, Arkansas. “Can you imagine if someone would have said the things Chris Kluwe said about, and to, Joe Biden? Not only would there have been an arrest, they would wind up in prison for endangering the life of our President! There’s a really big difference in protesting, and calling for violence against the President, which is exactly what Mr. Kluwe did. Not only is Mr. Kluwe ignorant to the facts about Adolf Hitler, and what his intentions were, but Mr. Kluwe is a danger to our society. The words ‘start engaging in civil disobedience’ sounds like something coming out of the mouth of the communist, drug using, womanizing racist, Martin Luther King, which America was just subjected to the celebration of a few days ago. I have held many rallies and protests with the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, and never once did I ever suggest that people start commiting civil disobedience. There’s a difference between protesting and asking democratic officials to commit civil disobedience, which we all know leads to rioting and destruction. We know what happened every time Martin Luther King suggested civil disobedience. And what did Mr. Kluwe mean by saying if he was asking others to engage in civil disobedience, he must be willing to do it also? In my opinion, Chris Kluwe should be locked away in prison for putting our sitting President, Donald Trumps’ life in danger. And that is exactly what he did.”
