The symptoms. High crime, disrespect, sexualisation, violence, perversion of language. If it’s so destructive, why is it popular? How did a decent, moral, respectful society transform in 30 years to one that celebrates murder, violence, cheating, etc?
In part 1, I mentioned that this culture once belonged to adults and now mainly influences children. Most adults grow out of their actions, or worse, use young impressionable kids to carry out their dirty, sinful work. What drives our children to this culture in the first place?
Multiple things I would argue. Hollywood / media glorifying thugs in movies and music. Advertising to those “poor” in the “hood” that the life the rapper or artist is living improves their lives, so perhaps it can do the same for the consumer. This is a falsehood that leads to thousands of degenerate wannabe rappers embarrassing themselves on the internet, making content about horrible acts they would actually never carry out themselves.
The instinct in a child to act like an adult is another. A culture created by criminal adults appealed to the masculine interests of young men. It’s a fact that young men are rebellious and long to be involved in something. Testosterone and a developing brain are a bad combination. The military and gangs alike target young men for recruitment for this exact reason: they’re vulnerable, make bad decisions, act on testosterone, don’t consider long-term consequences, and often have personality struggles around the teen years. Their society encourages this culture, thus they emulate it at extremely young ages. Children become their surroundings, which is why this culture spreads from adults to children. Once it solidifies in the children’s community, they emulate one another. It becomes “cool”.
