Yesterday morning, June 25th, the news outlet NewsMax, posted the headline, “Sharpton: Confederate Statues Not History We Want To Salute‘.”
Rev. Al Sharpton said Confederate monuments are not a part of American history that should be exalted or saluted.
During a Thursday appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Sharpton told Joe Scarborough that public statues featuring Confederate soldiers are insulting to African Americans, who along with all taxpayers, are footing the bill for the upkeep of the public monuments.
“One of the things that is not mentioned enough is that these statues are in public places that are maintained by people employed by taxpayer dollars,” Sharpton said. “So [Trump] is, in effect, asking Black Americans, Brown Americans, and all Americans, to pay to help to extol people that literally fought to keep their forefathers enslaved.”
National Director of the Knights Party, based in Harrison Arkansas, Thomas Robb said, “The contempt Sharpton & Black Lives Matter say they have for Confederate Flag statues, is only a mask to cover their hatred for America and the White Christian heritage that made America great! In 2017 Sharpton called for the removal of the Thomas Jefferson memorial in Washington DC. Other monuments without any connection to the Confederacy are being ripped down across the country. No, Sharpton doesn’t hate just the Confederate monuments, he and BLM hate all things white. They say they are anti-racist but anti-racism is just a code word for anti-White.”
