A lawyer for one of the former Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd’s death said he planned to argue in court that Floyd “killed himself” by dying of a fentanyl overdose and an underlying heart condition.

After a judge last month lifted a gag order on the case against the four officers, Earl Gray, an attorney for Thomas Lane, spoke with the Los Angeles Times about his defense plans.

The National Director of the Knights Party, based in Harrison Arkansas, Thomas Robb said, “Hailed as a hero, George Floyd was convicted 3 times for cocaine, 1 time for armed robbery, once for the home invasion of a pregnant woman, his encounter with the police was over passing counterfeit money, while behind the wheel high on fentynal and methamphetamines. Why are we infatuated with the death of a criminal drug addict anyhow?
