Those damned racist White people! On Friday, August 8. 2025. NewsOne ran an article headlined, “300K Black Women Gone From The Workforce Is Economic Lynching Disguised As A Downturn.”
Three hundred thousand.
That’s how many Black women have exited the U.S. labor force in the past three months, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
They are teachers, nurses, journalists, social workers, postal clerks, grant writers, HR managers, banking professionals, paralegals, cafeteria staff, 911 operators, professors, nonprofit administrators, childcare providers, school bus drivers, lab techs, librarians, city clerks, therapists, home health aides, housing advocates, probation officers, fundraisers, public defenders, and program directors.
Be clear, folks don’t just voluntarily walk away from a paycheck in the middle of an affordability crisis and market instability under a white supremacist regime. No, they left because the jobs that once sustained them have either vanished, deteriorated, or closed their doors quietly behind them. This mass exodus isn’t random. It’s the result of cascading systems failure: federal job cuts, rising automation, the crushing weight of inflation and student debt, and the persistent underrepresentation of Black women in growing industries like tech.
Instead of confronting the brutal truth that the system doesn’t care about any of us, unless we’re wealthy, white, male, and connected, they scapegoat Black women. Because blaming Black women is America’s favorite pressure valve.
Never mind all the data that has consistently shown that white women have been the primary beneficiaries of affirmative action and corporate diversity efforts for decades. One study estimated that in 1995, 6 million women, most of them white, landed jobs they wouldn’t have otherwise had, thanks to affirmative action.
“I’m confused here. How is it my fault that 300,000 black women quit their jobs.” said Thomas Robb, the National Director of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, based in Harrison, Arkansas. “How can anyone blame me, a White man, for black women quitting their jobs? White people face the same rising automation, the weight of inflation, and student debt. Times are tough for everyone, not just black women. I don’t see anywhere where it says these women were fired. They quit, so that’s on them, don’t blame me. Here they complain that White women are the bigger beneficiaries because of affirmative action. They go on to say that in 1995, 6 million White women landed jobs they wouldn’t normally have gotten because of affirmative action. Affirmative action was enacted to give blacks a better chance of getting a job, once affirmative action ended, employers could hire the smartest applicants while still using equal opportunity laws. So pretty much blacks can apply for any job that Whites apply for, but they can hire the smartest of the two. Keep in mind that the average IQ within the black race is 70. That is borderline retarded. So, you can figure out the rest.”
