Another case of driving while black? No, not this time either. One America News Network, on Wednesday, July 21st, ran this headline, “Calls Grow For Minn. State Rep. To Step Down Amid Scandals.”
Lawmakers in Minnesota on both sides of the aisle have made calls for Rep. John Thompson to resign over domestic abuse allegations and a traffic stop violation, where he claimed a police officer pulled him over because of his race. The chaos for Thompson began when a video released by the Saint Paul Police Department from the Fourth of July showed the officer telling Thompson he was pulled over for not having a front license plate and for how he sped off from a light.
Thompson was cited for driving with a suspended Wisconsin license. He began arguing with the officer by saying the only reason he was pulled over was because he’s black.
The National Director of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, based in Harrison, Arkansas, Thomas Robb remarked on this saying, “Since the overdose of George Floyd, unfortunately, under the knee of a White police officer, every black ‘thug’ in America that encounters law enforcement pulls the ‘race card’, even when caught red handed breaking the law. This isn’t anything new, but it is definitely on the rise. Just because a black person has a political position doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a law-abiding, or upstanding citizen. We’ve seen blacks ‘peacefully’ protest, and I just spoke recently about a black New York mayor, who’s husband was caught trafficking drugs, and she herself has now been arrested on an illegal weapons charge. This is one reason Abraham Lincoln advocated political separation of the races.”
