A mayor in an Arkansas town nestled in the Ozark Mountains sought to remove a Nativity scene from a public park, thereby ending a 70-year-old tradition.
Met with significant backlash from Christians, in part due to the attention drawn to the ban by a conservative radio show, the removal has been reversed.
A strong public reminder of the first Christmas will, as a result, not be hidden from public sight this winter in Eureka Springs.
The town of Eureka Springs has been referred to by CNN as “the Bible Belt’s LGBTQ oasis.”
National Director of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, based in Harrison, Arkansas, Thomas Robb said, “Many today claim to be Christians, so I’m not sure exactly who these ‘Christians’ are, but I can tell you as one of God’s chosen people, that being the White race, that there is an attack on true Christianity today in America. We must stand strong and resist this Satanic rebellion taking place. If you’re a White, Christian, you’re a target. Eureka Springs is about 42 miles from Harrison, and a couple of years ago we faced backlash over a billboard that was put up by the Knights Party that simply said, ‘It’s not racist to love your people’. A couple folks fussed about that too, and tried to have it removed. We fought back, and today it still stands. We must not let our White, Christian race be genocided from America, nor from any White European country, as far as that goes. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We shouldn’t be ashamed of that, and we need to show that we will stand and resist this Satanic rebellion we’re facing.”
