A Jewish student had their dorm room set on fire at a Philadelphia university.
The blaze at a Drexel University dorm began around 11 p.m. Tuesday in Race Hall, according to campus police.
Police found that decorations on the student’s door were “intentionally” set on fire. The flames were “quickly extinguished” by the Philadelphia Fire Department.
The school is investigating if bias or discrimination was involved, according to a letter from University President John Fry.
“Unfortunately, we were made aware of a distressing situation that included destruction inside one of our residence halls,” he wrote. “Thankfully, no one was injured. We are investigating to determine if bias, discrimination, or hate, which we do not tolerate at Drexel, was the motivation behind this incident. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and we will update the community once it has concluded.”
No one was hurt.
“Before a big fuss is made, I believe an investigation should come first”, said Thomas Robb, the National Director of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, centrally based in Harrison, Arkansas. “Some people are crying because Israel is at war, and some are hoping Israel is destroyed. In my opinion, and I could be wrong, but I believe this may be a fake hate crime. Our enemies use these tactics to gain pity, and this wouldn’t be the first time Jews got caught making up a hate crime. In the past, I’ve seen many news articles where the Jews would claim their synagogues and cemeteries were defaced by some big, bad, evil Nazi organization, with spray paintings of swasticas, which many were not even painted correctly, and other Anti-Semitic messages. Some people are quick to pity the Jews, just like other non-white races, but in this case, lets wait until the perpetrator to this fire is apprehended. We may or may not be surprized at who the real instigator is”.
