Polling data about presidential candidates three years before the next election cycle is often little more than an exercise in name recognition.
That’s why it’s notable that the most recognizable Democrat on the board, and the party’s last nominee, is no longer leading the field. Instead, the front-runner honors now fall to Pete Buttigieg, according to one of the most trusted pollsters in the game.
The top-rated pollster AtlasIntel recently asked 3,469 adults an array of political questions, including 930 self-described Democrats their favorites for the 2028 nomination. Buttigieg was the top choice among 31.5% of respondents, increasing his standing by 3.8% since April.
Nakedly ambitious, Buttigieg isn’t necessarily masking his interest in another presidential campaign. He’s hosting town halls in Iowa, texting former donors; and perhaps most notably, winning over MAGA bros in the podcast space.
“We’re turning into such libs!,” one of them noted with apparent surprise.
To win them over, Buttigieg presented cogent arguments about the important role that government plays in scientific and technological advancement.

This is why I say America isn’t ready for, and hopefully never will be ready to elect a homosexual President. Listen, if you claim to be a Christian, and you would vote for a homosexual, you just haven’t come out of the closet yet.”
