On Friday, January 27th, The Daily Signal reported the following, “It’s Not Government’s Job to ‘Root Out’ Misinformation.”
After being asked by MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski about the alleged misinformation spread by the popular “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast and Facebook users, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy responded with a homily about how “we” must “root out” misleading speech.
“We” don’t have to do any such thing.
Government officials have no role in dictating appropriate speech or lecturing us on what we can or can’t say. In fact, they have a duty not to.
Murthy’s comments wouldn’t be as grating if it weren’t so obvious that the Biden administration has been pressuring Big Tech companies, who oversee huge swaths of our daily digital interactions, to limit speech and set acceptable standards.
Speaking from the National Office of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, National Director, Thomas Robb spoke out saying, “I saw a meme on social media awhile back that said something like, ‘The American people need some more conspiracy theories because all of our’s have come true.’ I chuckled about it, but it’s true. In so many instances what the leftist government officials concider conspiracy theories, are actually uncovered truths that they’ve been trying to hide. Now we all know there pops up these wild ideas that some people come up with, which they honestly believe, which are untruths, but there’s been a fair share that aren’t. What it actually is, is our government deems anything that goes against their totalitarian thinking as ‘misinformation’.
