On Friday, January 26th., Black Entertainment (BET) published this ‘poor me’ article, “Fewer Than Half of Black Americans Say News Outlets Cover Issues Important to Them, Study Shows.”
Bias in news coverage has long been a frustration of Black people, but in new research, it turns out less than 50 percent of Black Americans say that the coverage presented on news outlets are important to them.
According to a study conducted by the Pew Research Center, four out of 10 Black Americans believe that their issues are not prioritized in news coverage in comparison to other ethnic groups. Asians came in at 38 percent and Hispanics at 37 percent. 54 percent of White Americans say the news outlets cover the issues that they consider important.
The study also revealed that more than half of Black Americans consider health care and medicine (66 percent), crime (58 percent), economy and jobs (57 percent), and education and schools (54 percent).
Per the report, Black Americans are interested in issues such as “cost of living, housing, poverty, employment and wages, the racial wealth gap, financial literacy, and “local economic conditions and opportunities.”
Thomas Robb, the National Director of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, based centrally in Harrison, Arkansas said, “I wonder in non-white countries how many news sources prioritize White people. I don’t have the statistics on this, but common sense tells me none. America is a White, Christian country, so doesn’t it make sense that most of our news would be about White, Christians and how we fight to keep from being genocided from our own country? With that said, non-whites can’t complain when they are not the focus of our news. The fact is, non-whites are in our news constantly. From the invasion of our borders, to our high crime rates, which 56% of alone are caused by blacks, down to our corrupt government filled with non-whites and homosexuals. Non-whites are in our news alot, but not in the light that they want. It is a fact that multicuturalism and diversity will be the downfall of our White, Christian country. If the facts don’t suit non-white races, they are the facts and reporting the facts isn’t racist.”
