Deport them all! On Monday November 25. 2024 Reuters ran this headline, “US farm groups want Trump to spare their workers from deportation.”
WASHINGTON, Nov 25 (Reuters) – U.S. farm industry groups want President-elect Donald Trump to spare their sector from his promise of mass deportations, which could upend a food supply chain heavily dependent on immigrants in the United States illegally.
So far Trump officials have not committed to any exemptions, according to interviews with farm and worker groups and Trump’s incoming “border czar” Tom Homan.
Nearly half of the nation’s approximately 2 million farm workers lack legal status, according to the departments of Labor and Agriculture, as well as many dairy and meatpacking workers.
Trump, a Republican, vowed to deport millions of immigrants in the U.S. illegally as part of his campaign to win back the White House, a logistically challenging undertaking that critics say could split apart families and disrupt U.S. businesses.
“Just as with cancer, you can’t just remove certain cancer cells. They will reproduce more, and kill you.”, said Thomas Robb, the National Director of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, based in Harrison, Arkansas. “As the Bible verse, Galatians 5:11 and Corinthians 5:6 warns, ‘a little leaven leavens the whole lump’, which actually isn’t talking about bread per se, it’s talking about anything that spoils and destroys Christian morals and values, so it applies to the deportation of these non-whites from our White Christian country. They are the ‘leaven’ to our society. Sure, they may work for pennies on the dollar, but there are others ways to find cheaper labor. One way would be to force able bodied welfare recipients to earn their keep by using them for farm labor. Anyone not willing to work should be kicked off the welfare system. It would be a win/win situation. The federal government spends $1 trillion dollars on welfare programs annually. Look how much could be saved. Either take a job working farms, or lose your benefits. Problem solved.”
