Finally! Something that makes sense. Recently, Face 2 Face Africa published this article headlined, “Why African-Americans are moving to Africa in droves, and should you?”
In recent years, a growing number of African-Americans have been moving to Africa, seeking connection, opportunity, and a fresh start.
According to sources, over 5,000 African-Americans moved to Ghana alone as part of the “Year of Return” initiative, and the trend has only grown since. Countries like Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Senegal are emerging as top destinations for Black Americans looking to reconnect with their ancestral roots and escape systemic racism and inequality in the United States.
For many, the move is about more than just physical relocation — it’s about finding a sense of belonging and freedom.
Economically, African nations offer emerging business opportunities in sectors like technology, real estate, tourism, and agriculture. Ghana, for example, has been actively courting African-American entrepreneurs and investors, offering dual citizenship to encourage long-term settlement.
Social factors also play a major role. According to a Pew Research Center study, roughly 60% of Black Americans feel that racial inequality remains a significant issue in the U.S., and some are looking for environments where they feel more valued and empowered.
However, moving to Africa isn’t without challenges — cultural adaptation, navigating local bureaucracy, and adjusting to different economic realities are all factors to consider.
Still, for many African-Americans, the opportunity to reclaim their heritage and thrive in a place where Black identity is celebrated makes the journey worthwhile.
“This would be a great idea, and I’d bet there would be enough White, Christian citizens that wouldn’t mind seeing our tax dollars go towards one-way airfare to get them there.” said Thomas Robb, the National Director of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, based in Harrison, Arkansas. “The benefits would go both ways. The blacks could get away from us White evil racists here in America, and if they all decided to go back, just think, our crime rate would drop 56% across America! Not only that, look at the welfare payouts we would save every month. Our White children could be taught to their capacity in the schools again, and openings would open up in the government housing projects for lower income working White people, which in fact, was the original reason our government had for building them. And since the blacks in America were subject to seeing our White ingenuity, they would look really intelligent to the blacks that are native to Africa. They could celebrate black history every month in Africa as well. After all, Africa is where their history, heritage, and culture belongs. This all sounds great, but the reality is that the black population is growing in America. It has went from 13% to nearly 14% in a relativly short time, so we need to accelerate and promote their moving back to their motherland. And in my opinion, any blacks that would remain here, as soon as they uttered one complaint about how they perceive they’re been treated in White, Christian America, they would be deported immediately. I just hope this trend continues.”
