On Tuesday, January 28th, news broke that two former contestants from “Ru Paul’s Drag Race” would appear in a Super Bowl commercial this Sunday. This marks the first time that drag queens are to be featured in an ad for the big game. The same apparently will not be true for abortion survivors. In November, a transgender flag was flown over the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines causing an ire reaction from citizens throughout the state. Republican law makers responded by presenting a bill that on Monday (Jan 17) moved from subcommittee to a full committee for consideration. On Friday January 24th Fox News posted the headline, “Tennessee passes law allowing agencies to deny LGBTQ adoption applications because of religious objections.” According to the report, the Governor of Tennessee signed into law on Friday that allows adoption agencies within the state to refuse to place children in homes that violate the agency’s written religious or moral convictions or policies. On Thursday January 23rd, Fox News reported, “DHS boss warns caravan migrants will be sent home if they reach US, amid reports of violence.” As the latest caravan heads north from Central America, acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf announced it will not be allowed entry into the US, citing the safety of Americans as his top priority. On Monday January 20th American Military News broke the headline, “VA. Sheriffs Show Up And Join Va. Gun Rights Rally.” At least one Virginia sheriff could be seen showing support for pro-gun rights activists who rallied at the Virginia Capitol building in Richmond Monday. Grayson County sheriff Richard Vaughan was seen voicing his opposition to new gun control measures being discussed by Democrat controlled Virginia state legislature. Vaughan said, “If the bills go through as proposed, they will not be enforced. On Thursday January 16th the Pluralist released a story with the headline, “A New Migrant Caravan Is Headed For The U.S. Border.” Authorities said at least 1,300 people entered Guatemala in a new U.S. bound caravan from Honduras. This is putting pressure on Mexico because of the Trump administration’s demands for Mexico to contain northbound illegal immigration. Today a Fox News headline read, “Texas man with license to carry shoots, kills suspected robber at home cookout.” The incident happened Friday January 10th at 11:55pm at the 3400 block of Chicago St. in Dallas. Three unidentified suspects approached the front yard of a home threatening the homeowner where the owner and his guests were having a cookout. Two of the suspects were armed with handguns at which time an unnamed man at the cookout drew his legally carried weapon and shot one of the suspects.
